HISTORY OF SIDOARJO
Sidoarjo
Regency as one of the buffer cities of the East Java Province is an area that
is experiencing rapid development. This success was achieved because the
various potentials that exist in the region such as industry and trade,
tourism, and small and medium-sized businesses can be packaged well and
directed. With the various regional potentials and adequate human resource
support, in its development Sidoarjo Regency is able to become one of the
strategic regions for regional economic development. Sidoarjo Regency is
located between 112o 'and 112o9' East Longitude and between 7o3 'and 7o5' South
Latitude.
Sidoarjo formerly known as the center of the
Kingdom Janggala. During the colonial Dutch East Indies, named Sidokare
Sidoarjo region, which is part of the district of Surabaya. Sidokare Region
headed by a governor named R. Ng. Djojohardjo, residing in the village Pucang
Anom aided by a Wedana is Good Ranuwiryo who resided in the kampung Pangabahan.
In 1859, according to the Dutch East Indies Government Decree No. 9 / 1859
dated January 31, 1859 Government Gazette No. 6, Regency Surabaya is divided
into two parts, namely the Surabaya District and County Sidokari. Sidokare led
R. Notopuro (later titled Tjokronegoro RTP) derived from Kasepuhan. He is the son
of R.A.P. Tjokronegoro, Regent of Surabaya. On May 28, 1859, the name Sidokare
District, which has the connotation is less good is converted into Sidoarjo
regency.
After R. Notopuro died in 1862, the brother of
the late 1863 was appointed as a regent, the Regent RTAA Tjokronegoro II which
is moving from Lamongan. In 1883 Regent Tjokronegoro get a pension, but instead
appointed RP Sumodiredjo moved from Tulungagung but only 3 months because of
death in that year, and Raat Tjondronegoro I was appointed instead.
In the Pedudukan Japan (March 8, 1942 - August
15, 1945), Brantas River Delta region including Sidoarjo also under the
authority of the Military Government of Japan (ie by Kaigun, soldiers Sea of
Japan). On August 15, 1945, Japan surrendered to the Allies. Beginning March
1946 the Netherlands became active in its efforts to re-occupy this area. When
the Dutch occupied the Gedangan, the Indonesian government to move the central

of contention with the Dutch. December 24, 1946, the Dutch began to attack the
town of Sidoarjo with attacks from the Department of Reinforcement. Sidoarjo

Dutch occupation government (known by the name
Recomba) tried to reshape the government like in the colonial past. In November
1948, established the State of East Java, one of the states in the United States
of Indonesia. Sidoarjo under Recomba rule until 1949. December 27, 1949, as a
result of the Round Table agreement, the Dutch handed back to the East Java
State of the Republic of Indonesia, so the Brantas delta region by itself into
the Republic of Indonesia..
